The Humidity and Air Moisture Level of Saunas and Other Spas
Posted on March 18th, 2011 No commentsWhat is it about the finnish sauna that has stood the trials of time so well? Some men and women might argue that it is more effective than other varieties of spas. While indeed the finnish variety of sauna as a whole has clearly become almost iconic as a piece of culture within the country of Finland, I don’t personally believe that the finnish spa is greater than all other kinds of of spa therapy. It does however come with a a handful of notable fundamental differences.
The main differences between the finnish saunas, and other kinds of saunas like the infrared sauna or steam showers most notably relate to the level of humidity character of each individual spa. Far infrared spas do not offer any hot stones to ladle water onto at all, and as thus it provides for a very dry sauna experience. The finnish saunas, however enable you the ability to have control over the air’s moisture content on some level by providing hot stones for heat absorption.
Steam rooms are on the extreme end of the humidity spectrum. They maintain a constant humid atmosphere that, entirely despite being kept at a significantly lower temperature than other types of spas, is extremely intense from the heat energy transferred to the epidermis by the condensing vapor in the spa’s air. Tens of thousands of people around the entire world use steam rooms on a weekly basis, but despite that some individuals still avoid the steam room for a few different reasons.
There exists a few small concerns in regards to steam showers. One is that, if they are not cleaned regularly, they might grow a hefty mold infestation. This is not a huge real concern in the drier sauna environments. The other entirely legitimate concern is that because of the extremely rapid energy transfer to the skin from the water drops, it may be a bit harsher than other various spa environments.
Far infrared saunas are found to be located in places of residence more frequently than the finnish variety, and, just one likely reason is because the far infrared panels are usually placed in the sidewalls they tend to save physical space better than the large electric heaters found in finnish spas. Indeed, because their heaters heat the body straight through making contact with infrared waves they also may be perceived as a bit safer than the finnish type.

Posted on January 27th, 2009 No commentsMaybe you get pain or aches in the back. Do you just live with it or have you tried to seek treatment? Many times treatments for back pain will include massage therapy. Massage therapy eases aches and pains, increases blood flow and helps the healing process. One massage technique, the Hawaiian massage is good for back pain relief. The Hawaiian massage therapy uses swaying motions with deeper tissue penetration and some stretching.
Hawaiian massage has evolved from the ancient healers of the Hawaiian islands. These master healers developed specific massage methodologies through time to relief problems throughout the body. One particular method is the Lomi Lomi massage. This Hawaiian technique uses the hands to work gently, yet firmly over the entire body. This therapy is particularly effective in relieving back pain, since it penetrates deeper and deeper.
These ancient practitioners saw the total energy flow through the body. They say that energy flow was sometimes hindered in certain regions, yet flowed in others. In time a holistic approach to healing and well being was developed. But specifically what they found was areas of energy blockage could be manipulated. With the development of different massage techniques, the energy flow of the body could be restored. This restoration brought back balance to the body.
Hawaiian massage uses flowing, rhythmic motions that help to loosen and elongate muscles. These rhythmic motions feel like waves moving about the body. These full body strokes help to release blockages to the energy flow in the body, releasing tension and soothing aches and pains. The swaying motions are also coupled with more pressure to work deeper into the muscles. The Hawaiian massage helps to bring back flexibility to sore and aching muscles and tendons.
