Cleaning the Bathroom For Your Family’s Health
Posted on May 8th, 2009 No commentsWe must do everything we can to preserve our health and the health of our family; it is one of the most important things we have in this life. Outside the home, we can protect them against dangers by ensuring that they have taken proper vitamins, as well as making sure they eat the right kinds of food. At home, we have more control of their immediate surroundings, so we can protect them much better from dangers and hazards.
We teach our kids to value their surroundings from an early age. Even though we find it hard to get them to clean their rooms, they’ll eventually realize that a clean room is worth the effort. You wouldn’t need to get involved in this. But, the bathroom on the other hand, is a place in the home wherein the kids may not want to clean. Like other common areas in the home, the bathroom is your responsibility.
The bathroom is a particular cause for concern, because it is one of the moist areas in the house. If you don’t mind that particular location, then the place will slowly turn into a bog. Life tends to thrive in moist and dark areas; that is why we need to take care of the bathroom. Besides, while some members of your family may disdain staying in the living room, everyone will have to use the bathroom more than once a day.
It’s a given that the toilet needs special cleaning and attention, but we must also take care that the tiles and grout in a bathroom should get special cleaning, too. The toilet may be infested with germs and bacteria, but fungi grow in grout between tiles. If left alone, these organisms may turn into harmful parasites that can harm your family.
I recommend calling in the services of professional grout and tile cleaners in Richmond if you are having difficulties with cleaning tile and grout. These experts can get rid of the dirt, grime and harmful organisms in your bathroom, and make sure that the area does not become a danger zone for the members of your family.

Relax and Let Richmond Grout and Tile Cleaners Do the Work
Posted on May 5th, 2009 No commentsIf I really had the time to perform upkeep on the house, I would do it in a heartbeat. But as it stands, I’m a working man with more important priorities. I spend eight hours at work everyday; add the travel time and the time I spend during breaks on top of that, and you’ll see that I just don’t have as much time as I used to.
There was a time, way back when, when I had a clean place. I was in college, to be exact, and my roommate and me took some pride in having the best-kept quarters in the whole of the dormitory. I just couldn’t study with a dirty place, so I had to keep it clean. I made sure it was always spotless. It was the same with the bathroom, as my roommate and I made it a habit to keep it clean with the rest of the room.
Things are different these days. While I now have my own place to stay in right here in Richmond, my busy career life prevents me from cleaning the place as often as I want to. That said, I still find ways, and perhaps once a month, I turn the place inside out to remove all dirt and grime.
Out of all the places in my home, I have difficulty getting the bathroom clean. I have always cleaned the old dorm bathroom often, about once a week, but with my home bathroom, it takes me about a month to get to it. When I do get to clean, all the dirt and grime have settled deep into the grout, resisting scrubbing with my brush. It’s pretty irritating.
I did what was logical; I called in professional tile and grout cleaners that were advertising around Richmond. I need a place where I can relax and kick back, and if I can’t do it (time constraints or otherwise), I would gladly pay someone else to do it. It’ll be worth every cent, so I can rest at home without a care.

Tile and Grout Cleaning Benefits
Posted on April 23rd, 2009 No commentsCeramic tile and grout cleaning has many listed benefits and advantages. One of them is that a polished ceramic tile is economical. The luster that a polished tile possesses reflects back the light from the ceiling fixtures thus saving on electricity purposes. A polished tile is also very easy to clean and maintain as it is wax-free flooring. Simple stains and dirt may be removed through water mixture of household detergent or soap and water.
Ceramic tile flooring is proven to possess high tensile strength. The strength it possesses is due to the repeated and overlapping application of concrete hardeners and other cement materials. The strength that a polished tile possesses makes it possible to use in residential and commercial spaces where high traffic and heavy loads are present. The sheen a ceramic tiled floor possesses also makes it attractive to use in these areas.
Tiles are easy to clean. To clean ceramic tiled flooring, you may use water mixture with detergent or soap and gently scrub the affected area. Ceramic tile is non-porous meaning stain does not go though the concrete. Cleaning it is easy as there are a lot of commercially available polishing conditioners in the market.
Tile polishing brings out the aesthetic beauty of ceramic tiles without having to alter its natural appearance. Scrubbing down discolored and dirty tile surfaces is one way to bring out the aesthetic appeal of the ceramic surface. Tile Polishing is also environmental friendly meaning there are no harmful chemicals or solutions that are used in the process. Chemicals used are certified low VOC and are safe to human health.
Almost any types of commercially available ceramic tiles can be cleaned using tile and grout cleaning method. Ceramic tile and grout cleaning does not only clean dirty tiles but also transforms a drab piece of slab to a gorgeous and exciting piece of art.

How to Care for your Ceramic Tiled Flooring
Posted on April 22nd, 2009 No commentsRegular cleaning and maintenance of your floor tile is advised in order for it to be in top shape always. This article is written to provide the viewers on tips and tricks on how to properly maintain and clean your ceramic tile flooring at home. You will find here that the cleaning tips are quite very easy to do, which only always requires preventive maintenance versus spending a lot when you have to purchase a whole new set of tile flooring.
First tip: Sweep or vacuum your tile floor everyday. Debris that had settled on the grout will build up and will be very hard to remove over time. Do this regularly especially if you have a toddler in your house. Remove toys or other objects that may easily collect dirt. Place pads under the feet of your furniture pieces to prevent scratching the tile surface.
Second tip: Wash your floor using soap and water at least once a week. By doing this, you will remove a weeks worth of spills, dirt and grime. It is also advisable to wash the surface with water to prevent a thin film of detergent build up. Scrub the affected areas with a gentle scrubber or mop, using an old toothbrush to remove the grime in grout areas.
Third tip: Always use silicone based (transparent) grout sealers to seal in the stain or color of your grout and prevent it from fading. Avoid using cleaning solution that contains bleach as it can discolor the color of your grout and make it look uneven. Wipe spills immediately using a damp cloth for food stain and a mixture of hot water and soap solution on damp cloth for grease or oil stain.
Fourth tip: Do not use harsh cleaning agents in caring for your tiled floor as it may discolor or remove the glaze from your tile. Ensure that your hands are protected with tight rubber gloves when dealing with cleaners so your skin would not be harmed.

Mind Your Grout
Posted on March 4th, 2009 No commentsIf you have cleaned a bathroom, there are probably two things you hate doing. One is the toilet seat, and the other is the grout in between tiles. In this article, I will discuss the latter; the less visible, yet still very important, tiles.
In comparison with the toilet seat, grout cleaning may seem inconsequential, as most human contact happens on the toilet seat. Grout, on the other hand, is limited to the walls and the floor. People make a lot more actual physical contact with toilets, but, the dangers of dirty grout are light and are unfortunately, airborne.
Grout’s very nature allows it to absorb the materials around it, which includes soap suds, dirt, and mold. These will, in turn, stick to your feet or fly to your nose. Sooner or later you will have clogged nose, or you’ll be coughing a lot. The bacteria have already done its job.
Grout must indeed be regularly cleaned. One can either learn to this by himself, or hire professional grout cleaners to keep these diseases at bay. Both have benefits, and I shall discuss them in detail below:
You can go “do-it-yourself” and clean your bathroom tiles and grout personally. This includes shopping for the right solution (or making a homebrewed one), and finding the right scrubber to deal with the dirt. An old toothbrush would do just fine, being the cheapest method. However, if you are feeling mildly extravagant, you may instead opt for an electronic scrubber. Whatever you choose, make sure that you do your research first. We can’t have you buying faulty equipment, now.
If you decide to go for the grout cleaning professionals, on the other hand, then there will be some (but not a lot) additional expenditures. Offset this extra cost by maintaining your grout and tiles. If you do some light cleaning everyday, then the molds would not have a chance to develop, and consequentially you wouldn’t have to call the cleaners too often.

Dirty Grout and Cooking
Posted on February 26th, 2009 No commentsLet me tell you a little bit about myself. I’m the average Joe type, working for 8 hours a day for six (maybe seven) days in a week. While growing up, my dream was to be a chef, but somewhere down the line, I decided it wasn’t practical and went into a different career instead. Now I’m a desk jock and I’m finding it a bit boring and repetitive. Fortunately, my girlfriend has a knack for bringing excitement into my life.
Saving and cutting back seem to be the trend these days, what with the recession happening, and I, of course, am no different. My busy schedule normally meant I would eat my meals at restaurants, but I have thought about it, and in the interest of saving money have decided to pack lunch and cook my own dinner.
Unfortunately, I am very skeptical about my apartment’s kitchen counter. I’ve never used it before, but in the same light, I think the people who previously lived here used it a lot, and the grout in between the tiles in particular is extremely dirty. I’m pretty certain I would get sick if I decide to prepare food there.
Determined to cook my own dinners, I decided to roll-up my sleeves and get to work cleaning the counters. And the rest of the house, too, while I’m at it, so I can invite my girlfriend over. Unfortunately, a few minutes of scrubbing made me realize just how hard it is to clean grout. I did some light reading and found out it was made of porous cement. Being so, it had absorbed all the food particles that it made contact with. Maybe for years. So all the grime have seeped in thoroughly.
I would want the kitchen counter to be sparkling white again, if I had the time to spend working on it. Unfortunately, as I’ve said, I work six days in a week, and generally take Sundays off as a day of rest and relaxation. I did the next best thing: I went online and surfed around for anyone in the area who could come in and take care of it for me.

Dirty Kitchen Grout
Posted on February 24th, 2009 No commentsOne must remember that keeping the kitchen clean is an important task. As the center for food preparation, its cleanliness or lack thereof will have an effect to the quality of the food prepared inside it. See, everything that makes contact with the food, even if it were brief, will end up inside a person’s biology.
Therefore, it is important for any management of those in the food business to maintain the cleanliness of their kitchen. Likewise, every household must be aware of how to maintain the cleanliness of their kitchen. Everyone is aware of the need, even on the subconscious level, but oftentimes, awareness does not translate into action. This article urges you to have your kitchen cleaned, especially if your counter is tiled.
Kitchen grout, the spaces in between your tiles in the kitchen, is one of the most prominent breeding ground of bacteria, and must subsequently be cleaned properly. Unfortunately, this is very hard to reach because of its very small nature. Most people resort to brushing it off with a toothbrush and using some strong detergent. Others would resort to potentially hazardous chemicals.
But if I were to choose amongst these options, I would have to go with the former. As I’ve said, everything that touches the kitchen could potentially go to your food, and hazardous chemicals are, well, hazardous. Perhaps even as dangerous as what could grow on your grout.
If you can find a choice, try to go for the environmentally safe cleansers out there in the market. Something organic is best, but do check your resources if they’ll do the job.
Another potential option is to get professional grout cleaners to do the job. Check out your sources to make sure that you call a group who knows what they’re doing, and then have them clean the kitchen grout with friendly chemicals. This way, the food you make is kept healthy and safe, while at the same time you are confident that no bacteria can come up to them.

Grout Karma
Posted on February 23rd, 2009 No commentsCleaning has always been irritating for me. Don’t get me wrong; I like keeping the house clean. I just do not want to be the one to do it. Why should I be doing house cleaning if I work six days a week to have food on my family’s table?
Maybe it is karma that led me to cleaning the house’s bathrooms, then. Much as I hate cleaning, the alternative of letting my wife kneel down and wash all that muck by herself is unacceptable. So whenever this happens, I find myself taking the initiative to get the materials from her and do it myself.
And so I find myself at a constant war with grout. The floor tiles themselves are hard enough to clean, but add to that the complexity of the cement between the tiles, and i find myself losing. Only the smallest toothbrush can even get to them, and as if the ground absorbs the dirt inside it, I just can’t seem to completely remove it.
But, being the stubborn man that I am, I cleaned and cleaned the grout twice a month. I scrub at the tiles until they’re sparkly clean once again, and I struggle to keep up with my grout nemesis. But he’s a crafty one, this grout: I could never clean it well enough. I hate cleaning, and now I absolutely despise not being able to do cleaning as well as I could.
I give up. No more cleaning the dirty-beyond-hope bathroom floor, because in the end, frustration just gets the better of me. But, as I’ve said, I really want to keep the house as clean and hygienic as I want. So I looked around and found a professional grout cleaner. Who knew they’d be on the first page of a search engine’s results? I talked to my wife and persuaded her to have them look at it.
I just hope they do a better job at it than I did.

Clean Your Grout!
Posted on February 16th, 2009 No commentsI’ve been sick for the past few weeks. The cough and cold has been bothering me, as none of the traditional medicines seem to work. Then, we posited that perhaps it was the dirty area in the house. In theory, if you clean the area, the sickness will go away.
But that’s the quandary; I’m generally the guy who does the cleaning in the house. As I was, at the time, stuck to my bed, I couldn’t actually do it. And if I can’t do it, the dirty atmosphere won’t make me feel better. So, in a rare display of sincerity, my family decided to help me clean the house this one time. For the most part.
In less than a day, the whole house was clean. Well, almost. The bathroom was left untouched.
I still didn’t get better the next day, and we surmised that it was because of the unkempt bathroom. I resigned to look for any “professional bathroom cleaners” on the internet. I didn’t find any, though I got close; I found a website on grout-cleaning that may just fit the job. I decided to contact them, then, but not before convincing my brother to clean everything else unrelated to grout, such as the toilet.
After paying my brother ten dollars for the messy job, I had the grout cleaners come over. There was a brief discussion on the cost, and then the cleaning began. And I’ll admit; their work was pretty impressive.
The grout cleaners have done what I could never do even at full health; they were able to clean both bathrooms so well, it looks as if the tiles have just been applied onto the floor. It’s well worth the cost of calling them up, and I will make sure to do it again in the future.
Oh, and I’m happy to report that i began to feel better the next day.

Who You Gonna Call (About Grout)?
Posted on February 5th, 2009 No commentsSo I was under some pressure, what with having been forced into bathroom cleaning by circumstances. To recap, I am a person who, while a firm believer of cleanliness, is still strongly against the prospect of doing the cleaning myself. I simply think that there are other people to do that job. I’m too busy with the rest of life to worry about something as mundane as cleaning. Unfortunately, personal pride (ie, my revulsion at letting my wife do it in my stead) has led me to volunteering for the task.
I really didn’t want to do the job. I misliked it as a kid back then, I really don’t think I’d like it much better now that I’m an adult with two bathrooms to clean. But, my male pride won out, and I end up scrubbing and cleaning to the extent of my abilities. Unfortunately, it was a battle I could not win, and I was forced to admit it was impossible to clean the grout.
I beat a quick retreat and mulled over my next move. Strategize. And I decided that it was best to bring in professional reinforcements. After proposing the idea to my superior (in other words, the wife), I went ahead and hired some professional grout cleaners.
After a day or two, the professional cleaners arrived with their equipment and machines. We discussed their fee for a bit and after agreeing on a figure, the cleaners set up their machines and started cleaning up the bathroom while I stayed downstairs. The hum of the machine soothed me, as I knew the work I so hated was being done for me.
Wow. The bathroom grout looks as good as new. Literally. I could never have done that myself! I heard that as we at least consistently cleaned the grout before, cleaning it didn’t require anything drastic. As for me, I’m just glad I don’t have to do it myself anymore.
