There are also companies who deal with kitchen restoration. You can ask them a couple of things on reconstructing your kitchen and also recreating a new look for your kitchen furniture.

You can replace old table top with hard wood, stainless steel, glass, or granite materials, whichever fits with the rest of your kitchen surfaces. Round and oval shapes are safer since these shapes have no sharp corners that can hurt you and your children. You can also easily add space for additional person joining your group.

Create a new table top made from tiles. Set the tiles on table top and cut the excess tiles. Smooth the jagged edge with tile file. Put ceramic adhesives at the back of the tiles and stick them on the table top. Put grout on the tiles and into the gaps. Wait for 2 days, then apply a sealer.

You can use fabric to create a new table top look. Trim down the fabric that will fit the size of the table top. Bond the fabric to the table top with decoupage glue and put on high-gloss shellac to protect the fabric. Border the cloth on the table top with tacks or cut glass.

For your old wood table top, do some refinishings. Using a scraper, grate the old finish. Afterwards, smooth it with emery paper. Apply polyurethane coating on the table top. Allow it to dry. Then, put on the second layer of polyurethane coating. Let it dry once again, and then apply the third layer of coating.
