When decorating your kitchen many don’t ever think of placing area rugs in their kitchen. We wonder why you hardly see this in any design other than the living room and hallways. Area rugs will brighten up a room’s decor along with making it cozier when you’re in the environment.
Area rugs in the kitchen should be washable. You don’t want something which needs to be specially treated every time they get dirty. You want to be able to throw them in the wash if a spill occurs and then hang them out to dry. NEVER place your area rug in the dryer. The heat from the cycle will melt the backing which keeps the rug from slipping and they won’t be good anymore. You may also loose shape of area rugs when placed in the dryer.
If you have a theme such as apples or chickens then try to accommodate that into the area rug design. You may run across an apple shaped area rug which would be a great idea. Other cases you’ll find one which has your theme already on it like it was meant to be. If you believe too much of the theme in the kitchen is a bit much for you then just go for the color scheme.
How else is a rug useful in the kitchen? Let’s visualize another scenario: Say you are preparing food for a lot of people. That naturally entails extensive use of the countertop, and you would be in the kitchen for possibly hours-and that is not far-off a possibility as you might think. Now wouldn’t it be nice you had a nice, soft rug to step on the entire time? Not only is it a lot more comfortable, but it also helps prevent slippage -something that happens surprisingly often in kitchens especially during the busiest and most hectic of moments.
Make sure the area rug of your choice is comfortable to the touch, washable, and matches the theme. You’ll wonder why you didn’t think of placing one in the kitchen before!
